aboutme

I have been working as a free-lance environmental artist for over 25 years, taking a few years out to work as a designer in industry.  I have now been back working in environmental art for three years and what a fantastic time to have returned, all of my long-held beliefs, practices and concerns over environmental issues are now at the forefront of mainstream curriculum, and traditional rural crafts are beginning at last to be acknowledged as the important contributions to our cultural life which they rightly are.

It has been a pleasure to also be working with the Littoral Arts Trust on projects both at the Return Community Reserve in Rossendale and at Cylinders Estate in Cumbria and these projects are ongoing. Alongside these activities I also work on willow sculpture commissions.

My home is in Bacup, in the Rossendale Valley, where both I and my partner, Andrew, are owned by our elderly ginger tom cat, Jasper, who tolerates the fact that his home is often invaded by partly made willow creatures when the weather forces me to work indoors. He loved sleeping in the partly woven tender of Stephenson's Rocket - until it became big enough to remind him of a cage!
